HOW YOU GET TO DANCE LIKE THE STARS

As has been proved on the TV programme Dancing With The Stars, you don't have to be a specific size or age or have had a dance background to be able to dazzle on the dance floor. Every top dancer started as a total beginner; some as children but a great many were adults when they found dancing. I was over 30 when I started ballroom and latin dancing and still managed to win NZ titles in both styles. Dancing is no different to any other sport or hobby (and dancing is both) in that you just need to take the first step (pardon the pun) by booking in for lessons and then let the professional guide you through the different stages.

STARTING OUT

The best place to start is in a social class where you can learn in a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Our 24 week complete course is the perfect one as it covers all of the ballroom and latin dances and it's for adults who have never danced before.

Once you've learnt how to dance socially you can choose whether you want to take your training further and start learning choreographed routines in our Medal Test classes. This is where you learn all those fancy moves they dance on TV and where the emphasis is on learning the dance techniques that turn you into a star - Click here to learn more. If you have a competitive spirit and are a bit of an extrovert, you'll probably want to put all your Medal Test training into use on the competition dance floor. All of your training is then one to one with your teacher in private lessons. It's hard work and you need to be dedicated and focused but in the end, you could be one of those stars!.
